Did you know that over 2.5 million people in Michigan alone suffer from arthritis? The Arthritis Foundation improves lives through leadership in the prevention, control, and cure of arthritis and related diseases. If you or someone you know is living with arthritis, please visit the Arthritis Foundation website to take advantage of the numerous opportunities made available by this terrific organization.
Interested in participating? The Arthritis Foundation hosts many events all over the country throughout the year. Below are a few for which you might want to save the date!
MAY thru OCTOBER: THE ARTHRITIS WALK. One of the special events held annually nationwide to raise funding for arthritis research, exercise programs, information hotlines, and a camp for Michigan children living with arthritis is the Arthritis Walk. This year, our community's Arthritis Walk was held at the Detroit Zoo on Saturday, May 14, 2011. As the medical chair of the walk this year, I was thrilled that we actually set an attendance record for our Great Lakes Region...even in the rain!!!
Many thanks to those of you who donated. Arthritis Walk 2012 will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012! Please join us at the Detroit Zoo once again. Visit the Arthritis Foundation website for more information.
NOVEMBER/DECEMBER: JINGLE BELL RUN/WALK IN MICHIGAN. Join a team or form your own and "be there with bells on" for one of the Michigan Jingle Bell Run/Walk dates. Information to follow...
